NY Giants’ Steve Smith Gives to Goodwill

Everyone’s giving to Goodwill this Fall – even New York’s biggest football stars are getting in on the action!

NY Giants’ Steve Smith not only dominates on the football field, he also donates his gently used goods to Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, Inc.

NY Giants’ Wide Receiver Steve Smith’s rep Jeff Weiner, of ESBL Sports Management, gave us a call the other day and arranged to have Steve Smith make a Goodwill donation. Huge Giants fans ourselves, we hopped right in the truck and headed out to his place to peruse the goods, ask a few questions, and mainly just hang out with the incredibly laid-back, talented and down-to-earth pro-player and – get this – his mom, Audrey. It was hands-down one of the coolest evenings in GoodwillNyNj donations history.

For the record, Smith is currently leading all NFL WR’s in receptions (34), yards (411), touchdowns (4), and 1st downs (22). Understand our fandom now?

A GOOD LOOK (AGL): This is some great stuff you’ve got here, Steve. What made you decide to donate it to Goodwill?

STEVE SMITH: Goodwill is a really good cause. I like the idea that my old clothes can make a difference. I figure if I can’t use these clothes any more, by giving them to Goodwill someone else can. It’s the best way to recycle that I ever heard of.

AGL: Very good answer; you must have donated to Goodwill before.

STEVE: Yes.

MRS. SMITH: Yes, in my hometown, in California, I donate all of his items to Goodwill.

AGL: Guess your bedroom’s no high school shrine, then, but we still think you’re special. How about from the shopping side of things? Have you ever browsed the racks at a Goodwill store?

STEVE: Yes. And my brother [a USC Trojan] shops at the Goodwill in California.

AGL: Wow. You three certainly are a Goodwill family.

STEVE: By the way, if I saw someone walking down the street in one of my shirts? I would walk right up to them and say, ‘Hey, man, nice shirt!’

AGL: A great shirt and a hello from Steve Smith? Sounds like a deal to us. Thank you — and thank you for donating to Goodwill!
