Happy (nearly) New Year’s Eve! We hope you enjoy our last World Wide Web Round-Up of 2010. Here, we scour the internet for the best Goodwill finds to share with you, to give you a better idea of what you too can find at your local Goodwill store.
Door Sixteen: I haven’t been doing a lot of scavenging lately, but with a second home in the works, I’ve started keeping my eyes open a little wider again. Yesterday I found this pretty piece of pottery at the the Goodwill for $2.99! I love the rich, deep blue of the cross pattern and the all of the crazing in the glaze.
Now that you have a home full of this year’s holiday presents, it’s the perfect time to donate the old to make room for the new. All of our Goodwill store locations accept donations – so find the store near you, make a donation, get a tax deduction, and do your part to help make your community brighter in 2010. Who knows – you may even find the perfect gift for next year’s celebrations, too!

Get Your Martha On: Yesterday, however, I braved the crowds at Goodwill for a little peek. And I spied a soup tureen from across a sea of used furniture. Yes! Finally! And only $4.99! Can I get another exclamation mark (and an amen), please?!?!?!
In the Purple House: I had to go to the Goodwill today, for some raw materials… While I was there, I spotted a big box on the floor. “Children’s encyclopedia $5.” My first thought was “where will I put them?” (I have a bit of a children’s book problem…er…collection.) My next thought was “who cares?…I need them.”
All Bower Power: Anyone else still shopping for Christmas presents? …I was totally inspired to shop till I flopped by all the great finds at my local Goodwill store… This punch set comes complete with 12 mini glasses and a serving bowl. And not only does the $9 price tag tug on my heart strings but the star design that adorns the sides of the slightly square sides really makes this find sparkle. No entertainer would regift this one!

521 Lake Street: Well, after seeing on numerous blogs the great finds people were getting at Goodwill I finally got time to go to two of them, and I really had fun! All of this was 10.00!
New England Through Yummy Mom’s Eyes: You all know I love Goodwill- great for craft projects, kitschy gifts, home decorating… the possibilities are endless. One of my favorite things to do while I am in there is to go through the books. You would not believe what you will find for books, things you would certainly never see in Barnes and Noble or Borders! But, aside from the great variety, I also love to open books up and look at inscriptions…
Earlier this month, we gave out outfits to anyone in New York or Northern New Jersey who needed a fresh outfit to wear to a job interview. 569 people picked out stunning ensembles and were able to walk into their interviews knowing they looked great. Were you one of them? Douglas was.
Douglas made our day by writing us an email about his experience. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did:
Good Morning, this is Douglas. I am writing you today to inform you that I have been on two interviews since I received that beautiful suit from your goodwill store. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I also wanted to thank you for all the good that your company does around the U.S.A. Have a safe and happy holiday season.
If you have any stories to share about your interview or your Goodwill outfit, send them our way at email@example.com. And please, remember, it’s your support and donations that make events like this possible. When you give this holiday season, why not give a gift that gives back? Why not give some Goodwill?
