@PlanetBrandee Part 4: Musical Festivals 101

_____

Coachella. Burningman. Lightning in a Bottle.

Oh yeah. THIS is the END! It’s happening! The FESTIVALS are coming! Over the past few weeks we chatted on the top tips for festival season, and we’ve seen some fabulous video inspirations, and last week — LIVE from the MOJAVE desert — we shared how to dress for the COLOR you need in your life! So, grab your RayBans, that flower garland (when WILL they go away?!) and make a raver time beeline to the FINAL Part 4 of my 4-Part Travel Series on Music Festivals 101!

Part 4: Capture that MOMENT!

Question: “Are you “cell-fish?” ie: when something or someone meaningful is communicating with you, are you glued to your phone? Do you suffer from FOMO? Do you have an innate ability to not “see” what’s going on because you live in your egotistical selfie obsessive zone?

Answer: Well hey, you! Put that ISH’ DOWN son! This is 2016! Try to realllllly reconnect! Isn’t that why you bought the ticket in the first place?! Let’s raise our arms and our eyes to each other at these fantastic events!

LISTEN: Everyone wants to capture everything lately, and music festivals are NO exception! In fact, many attendees suffer from what we non cell-fish humans call the terrible FOMO! Here’s the deal on what this terrible FOMO is:

fomo-definition

And in case you’re still confused about the reality of FOMO, here’s a little breakdown on that self-obsessed temperament that affects many a festival-goer obsessed with never just “enjoying” a moment:

So, ERMAGERD, don’t be “that guy”, (or girl!) and put down the phone! Dance! Celebrate being alive! Get OFF those dating APPS! Meet REAL people! Put down the camera and join the land of the LIVING! For some serious inspiration and a big final wrap up, I highly recommend these videos — they capture the vibes of Coachella, Burningman, Lightning in a Bottle and a thousand other opportunities you can go to this summer! Get inclusive! Reach out and connect! No trace (and ALL douchey selfies) left behind!

Make new friends and above all, have FUN! There truly is only ONE life, so why not spend it with those who share the same vibrant, colorful and joyous spirit as you? Get out there and make it happen!

SO, who’s going!? Wave your golden ticket Charlie, flap your fringe, and clap slap yo’ boho hands in the air and let’s hear it! So do you live for feathers and thrifted boho? Snap a pic and share it with me for a chance to be featured here next week when my new adventure begins! And stay tuned for my next #travel #adventure in May which has me going to a new destination, but shhhh, that’s STILL secret for now!

Till then, follow my #food, fun and travel treks on Twitter and Instagram @PlanetBrandee and see you on the road!

Goodwill Gems: Stylish Spring Shoes

Hello, fashion-forward friends!

I’m back with another week of Goodwill Gems and cannot WAIT to share what I’ve found this week! While thrifting at GoodwillNYNJ’s Chelsea location in Manhattan, I was lucky enough to stumble across row after row (after row!) of completely fabulous shoes.

thumb_IMG_8239_1024

There were tons of cute heels, in all colors of the rainbow, and most in pretty mint condition, so it was really hard for me to select just one pair.

But of course, I had to pick one to post about (at least for this week’s blog update). And as much I love all that vibrant, happy color you see in the photo above, in true Goodwill Gem fashion, I went for something pretty but also practical, that I knew I would wear again and again and again!

thumb_IMG_8226_1024

These Kenneth Cole Reaction heels have slight platform for comfort and a super chic look, thanks to the skinny heels and understated linen upper. The neutral fabric that makes up most of this shoe isn’t as bright or wonderfully loud as the other colorful heels I spotted during my thrifting trip, but this is the kind of shoe that will go with absolutely everything in your spring and summer wardrobes! Plus, it was in almost perfect condition and looked like it had hardly been worn at all — serious Gem alert!

thumb_IMG_4875_1024

So, how to style this too-cute shoe? EASY. You could pair these babies with everything from fancy cocktail dresses to casual summer sundresses to a classic jeans-and-white-tee-shirt look. They’re incredibly versatile, which is what makes them such an insane bargain and lucky find! But here, I’ve chosen to pair these pretty heels with a bright yellow, breezy summer skirt (also found at Goodwill!) and a couple of layered gray and white tanks. Easy, cool, comfy and still totally cute, and adding my newly found heels will take this otherwise casual look up to a slightly more polished level.

Music Festival Fashion PART 3 with @PlanetBrandee

@PlanetBrandee Part 3: Musical Festivals 101

_____

Coachella. Burningman. Lightning in a Bottle.

Oh yeah. It’s happening! The FESTIVALS are coming! Over the past few weeks we chatted on the top tips for festival season, as well as seen some fabulous video inspirations, and this week, LIVE from the MOJAVE desert we’ll share how to dress for the COLOR you need in your life! So grab your coat of many colors, that old bottle of manic panic and made a rainbow scarf or to, and let’s GO prep in Part 3 of my 4-Part Series on Music Festivals 101!

Part 3: Living COLORFULLY!

Question: “Is eggshell a real color? Is beige where the heart lies? Is “PUTTY” a real thing?”

Answer: We’re in the desert at a music festival, put those safe neutrals down and let’s howl at the rainbow moon like the vibrant fashion creatures we are!

Listen: color isn’t ONLY for festivals! In a lot of ways, color is thrifted, fabulous magic you can inject into your mundane everyday existence and make it come alive! Like a song your body wears, colors can transform a wardrobe and your mindset. I learned this when I met Jessi Arrington, a talented and incredibly spirited person who I had the chance to befriend years go at an MFTA auction here in New York City. Just seeing her was a lesson in joy! Head-to-toe color and thrilling, infectious energy! Here’s us celebrating our mutual love for Bea Arthur and sequins!

Does it get any better? Yes it does, check her TED talk here on wearing nothing new:

And if you’re creative, (and if you’re reading this blog, let’s be honestttt, you ARE!), be sure to voyage into another of her TEDx appearances here:

So get into Goodwill and grab all the color you can! I would love to find a gorgeous striped orange ensem like she rocked in Orlando, but instead I found some pretty stellar color-infused items, including a tie-dyed shirt that was thrifted into a capelet and some rainbow leggings for day? What’s your favorite from the pics?!

SO who’s going! Wave your golden ticket Charlie, flap your fringe, and clap-slap yo’ boho hands in the air and let’s hear it! Do you live for feathers and thrifted boho?

Music Festival Fashion PART 2 With Your Friday Fave @PlanetBrandee

live-mojave-dessert-festival-fashion-header

@PlanetBrandee Part 2: Musical Festivals #101

_____

Coachella. Burning Man. Lightning in a Bottle.

Oh yeah. It’s happening! The FESTIVALS are coming! Last week we chatted on the top tips for festival season, and this week, LIVE from the MOJAVE desert we’ll share how to live and layer for your life! So grab your cutest thrifted daisy dukes and worn-in leather boots, because the floral prints are surfacing, the neon bracelets are being spotted and there’s a bass pounding in the desert distance. Let’s GO prep in Part 2 of my 4-Part Series on Music Festivals #101!

Part 2: Bring me your floral, distressed, denim music stomping souls!

Question: When it comes to festivals, what is considered “too much?”

Answer: There is no such thing! 🙂

SO: Unpacking here in the desert for one of the more private events leading into festival season, and hot little ticket in hand, that same question comes again: what to wear?

Well, let’s talk about unbridled creativity. You can wear anything! You can do everything! Feel like neon on paid with a dash of el wire? Oh yeah. Maybe vintage deconstructed dresses with a headdress to knock even a thrifted Liberace vision board off the wall? Easy son, we got this. And how about mirrored full bodysuits? Um, yes and also YES! Let’s look at this inspo!

april15-post-photo-2Firstly, Burning Man is massive! No longer underground, (since 2011’s record breaking sell out year), this event is the top notch example of runway vs nature vs DIY and self-reliant aesthetic!

april15-post-photo-3

This video sums up the vibes, and hit the heart so much, that my husband and I even walked down the aisle to this song alongside our Burning Man friends this past October when getting married! Home is truly where you make it, among the really genuine and heartfelt ethos and this rag-tag and eclectic group is anything but boring!

In our GW world, be sure to get inspired by grabbing ALL the neon and black light-reactive cloth you can find! Shred that pile up ($14.99 YASSS! Score!) and have an armful of fabulous tie-on ribbonry!  Rock it in the sun or hit it with some glow paint for nighttime reactive awesomeness! In fact, here’s a few videos to help you get ready to be your best on the Playa desert ground!

Up first, a great collection of costume inspiration, from full on Marie Antoinette to played down desert boho, it’s all here, and it’s totally accessorized for dust storms, lol!

Lastly, lay your eyes on these five fast facts about Burning Man! Colorful, fun and absolutely mind blowing concepts here:

SO who’s going! Wave your golden ticket Charlie, flap your fringe, and clap slap yo’ boho hands in the air and let’s hear it! So do you live for feathers and thrifted boho? Snap a pic and share it with me for a chance to be featured here next week! And stay tuned for my next #travel #adventure in May which has me going to a new destination, but shhhh, that’s STILL secret for now!
