Hats Off to the Royal Wedding

Did you set your alarm for ridiculous hours just to see what Kate wore down the aisle? Don’t worry – we won’t judge; in fact, we applaud you! We had mixed thoughts on the gown, but the one detail we absolutely adored were all the hats. Having just been to the incredible Goodwill Greenwich Village Boutique, we just had to share a few hats we’ve got ready to crown you this gorgeous Friday afternoon:

Show your respect - and your style - in a beautifully enormous Royal-Wedding-perfect hat!

Now, we don’t want to be presumptuous, but if you’re planning on celebrating the Royal Wedding this morning, afternoon and eve, we think you should swing by our Boutique for a proper hair topper, then head to the nearby “Little Britain” of Manhattan, just a few blocks away. Our Boutique is located at 44 W. 8th Street between Sixth Avenue and MacDougal Street, and the regalia-clad, wedding-happy Little Britain is on Greenwich Avenue between West 12th & 13th Streets. If you follow our plan, be sure to tweet and share your photos of hat-clad revelry – we’d love to see how you bring your Goodwill to the Royal Wedding!

Hope you enjoy – and cheers!

Fashion Photographers – It’s Your Time to Shine!

Holy moly – the Goodwill Greenwich Village Boutique is open and it is fantastic! Were you able to make it to yesterday’s debut? If so, comment & tell us your finds! We took so many photos of Goodwill gems that we’ll need at least another day before we can post them (our style minds are still too hyper from yesterday’s bounty) – in the meantime, though, we have a GOODWILL CHALLENGE for you…

The original Chelsea Goodwill photo our banner was pulled from - can you top it? We bet you can!

We need to replace the banner image on this blog with one from the Goodwill Greenwich Village Boutique – and we want YOU to show us what the new one should be. Share your photo entries taken from the Boutique with us over on Facebook and Twitter by May 15, 2011. The winner will to have their photo (along with a superimposed photo credit and a blog post all about your crazy impressive fashion photography skills) up on our blog for through the end of summer.

You have the power to change the face of A Good Look by GoodwillNyNj. Submit your photos by May 15th by posting them on A Good Look by GoodwillNyNj’s Facebook Fan Page or tweeting them to @GoodwillNyNj. Good luck, dear thrifters! We hope to see your entries soon!

Goodwill Gems: The Chic Lady Handbag

As the weather gets hotter, the clothing gets riskier. How can a girl keep it elegence in a Spring & Summer full of flirty, feisty fashion? Easy. With a Chic Lady Handbag! No matter what you pair it with (hotpants? miniskirts?) this little staple gives you a touch of throwback femininity. Need proof? Our Goodwill Gem columnist Lauren Haslett packs a whole lot of refinement into her latest local Goodwill find – take a look:

Basic black is jazzed up here with a funky-feeling exterior and a bit of shine.

Warm weather is finally, finally here! And with higher temps and spring rains (we’ve obviously had plenty of those already, too) come parties, free concerts, barbecues, picnics, lunches, and brunches (whew!). So what to stash all your goodies, hostess gifts, tickets and other treats in? Why, this week’s accessory find, of course!

GoodwillNyNj’s Guide to Thrifting, Part I: What to Wear to Goodwill

Thrift stores can be overwhelming. There, we said it. As fun as it is to ooh and aah over SammyDavisVintage‘s latest great find, ThriftyVintageChic‘s new-old ensemble, or Fly on a Dime‘s incredible steals, it can also be intimidating. There’s got to be a way to go from info overload to Goodwill Style Icon, right? Right!

Thrift fashion expert Emme breaks down the basics to make Goodwill work wonders for you.

Our new 4-part series by the fantastic thrift expert Emme Bonilla will show you how, whether you have 20-minutes, 60 minutes, or all the time in the world to find your absolute perfect secondhand style.
