It’s heating up, and so are our sales! Join us this weekend as we welcome the upcoming summer season with a great new spread of sales. Here’s the weekly Window Sale line-up for all our favorite fashion-loving thrifters out there:

Friday, May 31st:

  • The 79th Street Goodwill Window Sale: The weekly sale begins at 10 a.m. and is first come, first serve. Each customer is given a ticket in the order they arrived. They may pick two window items to buy. When the purchase is made, customers may rejoin the line to make another selection. You’ll find the 79th Street Store at 217 West 79th Street, New York, NY 10024 (212-874-5050).
  • The Brooklyn Livingston Street Goodwill Window Sale: Tickets are distributed at 8:30 AM, first come-first serve. Doors open at 9 a.m. Two items per customer; rejoin line for another chance. You’ll find the Goodwill Livingston Store at 258 Livingston Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201 (718-923-9037).
  • The Astoria Steinway Goodwill Window Sale: Tickets at the weekly sale are distributed at 9:15 a.m. to customers in line, first come-first serve. Doors open at 10 a.m. to all customers, who are taken in numerical order. Purchases are limited to two window items per customer. Once their window transaction is complete, customers are free to shop the store. You’ll find the Goodwill Steinway Store at 32-36 Steinway Street, Astoria, NY 11103 (718-932-0418).
  • The Bronx Goodwill Window Sale: Tickets are distributed at 7:45 a.m. to customers in line, first come-first serve. Doors open at 8 a.m. The store admits two customers at a time, who may purchase two window items. At 9, the store opens to everyone unless there are still ticket-holders in line. Once they’re through, any remaining window merchandise is available to everyone. You’ll find the Bronx Store at 361 East 149th Street, Bronx, NY 10455 (718-292-1083).

Saturday, June 1st:

  • The West Harlem Fifth Avenue Goodwill Window Sale: The weekly sale starts at 9 a.m., and is first-come, first-serve. Each customer is given a number in the order they arrive. They may pick two window items to buy. When the purchases are made, they may rejoin the line to make additional selections. You’ll find the Goodwill West Harlem Store at 2196 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10037 (212-862-0020).
  • The Brooklyn Fulton Street Goodwill Window Sale: Tickets are distributed at 8:30 AM, first come-first serve. Doors open at 9 a.m. Two items per customer; rejoin line for another chance. You’ll find the Goodwill Fulton Store at 1100-1104 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11238 (718-789-0856).

Just in case you’re not in the know yet, a Goodwill Window Sale is when the best items in the store (which have been displayed in the window for days if not weeks) go on sale. There are often designer items and high-priced toys in the mix. We’ve seen everything from red lacquered Chinese lions to a Ferragamo heels to pristine electric guitars. Crowds form early, so try to get to the store well before doors open.

Join us June 5th in NYC at a mixer for Young Professionals interested in giving back. We want to meet you and talk about how we can spread the word that Goodwill supports over 80,000 people with disabilities and barriers to employment a year, places nearly 8,500 people in jobs, and empowers over 8,700 youth in the Greater New York and Northern New Jersey region.

We need your ideas and involvement to continue helping people through the Power of Work! Goodwill’s President and CEO, William J. Forrester, invites you to The Goodwill Mixer at Arctica Bar on June 5th from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Your ticket includes drink tickets, plenty of hors d’oeuvres and more!

You will be the first to hear about Goodwill’s new GoodLeaders Council – a group of Young Professionals who will help bring Goodwill into the future – will you join us?

Goodwill Stores – Memorial Day Hours

For your convenience, our stores will open this Memorial Day weekend! Here are our hours for the next few days to come:

Saturday and Sunday, all stores* open regular hours.

Monday, May 27, all stores* open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.

*Bergenfield and Paramus stores in New Jersey will be close on Sunday as usual.

  • The 23rd Street Goodwill Window Sale: The sale begins at 9 a.m., and is first-come, first-serve. Each customer is given a ticket in the order they enter the store. They may pick two window items to buy. When the purchase is made, they may rejoin the line to make another selection. You’ll find the 23rd Street Goodwill at 220 East 23rd Street, New York, NY 10010 (212-447-7270).

Saturday, May 25th:

  • The Goodwill Village Boutique Window Sale: Tickets are distributed at 8:50 a.m., first come first serve. Doors open at 9 a.m. Two customers are admitted at a time, who may select two items each. If they want more, they must go to the back of the line and get another ticket. Store opens to the general public when the window sale is over, usually 10-10:15. You’ll find the Goodwill Village Boutique at 44 West 8th Street, New York, NY 10011 (212-477-7024).
  • The Upper East Side Stuyvesant Goodwill Window Sale: Tickets are distributed at 9:30 a.m., just before the doors open. The store admits two customers at a time, who may purchase two window items. They may rejoin the line when they’re done if they want to buy more window merchandise. The store opens to everyone at 10, but the window line continues inside until the sale is over. You’ll find the Stuyvesant Store at 1704 Second Avenue, New York, NY 10128 (212-831-1830).
  • The East Harlem Third Avenue Goodwill Window Sale: Tickets are distributed at 8:15 a.m. to customers in line, first come-first serve. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. The store admits three customers at a time, who may purchase two window items. At 9:30, the store opens to everyone and any remaining window merchandise is available to all. You’ll find the Goodwill East Harlem Store at 2231 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10035 (212-410-0973).
  • The Wappingers Falls Goodwill Window Sale: The sale begins at 8 a.m., and is first come-first serve. Each customer is given a ticket in the order they arrive. The store admits two customers at a time, who may purchase three window items. When all the ticketed purchasers are done, the merchandise is available to other customers after the store opens at 9. You’ll find the Wappingers Falls Goodwill at 1488 Route 9, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 (845-298-0311).
  • The East Northport Goodwill Window Sale: Tickets are distributed at 8:15 a.m., first come-first serve. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Two customers are admitted at a time, who may select two items each. Store opens at 9:30 unless there are still ticket-holders in line. Once they are done, window merchandise is available to everyone. You’ll find the East Northport Goodwill at 1900 Jericho Turnpike, East Northport, NY 11731 (631-462-4219).
  • The Massapequa Goodwill Window Sale: Tickets are distributed to customers on line by 8:45 a.m., and the doors open at 9. The store admits two customers at a time. Purchases are limited to two window items per person. To keep the sale moving, customers are asked to make their selections quickly without examining each individual window item. Once they have made their choice, they are free to shop the rest of the store. At 9:30, the store opens to the general public. You’ll find the Massapequa Goodwill at 814 Hicksville Road, Massapequa, NY 11758 (516-795-0237).

Sunday. May 26th:

  • The Bellmore Goodwill Window Sale: Ticket distribution will be at 9:15, and the doors will open at 9:30. The store admits two customers at a time. Purchases are limited to two showcase items per person. To keep the sale moving, customers are asked to make their selections quickly without examining each individual showcase item. Once they have made their choice, they are free to shop the rest of the store, which opens to the public at 10. You’ll find the Bellmore Goodwill at 2736 Merrick Road, Bellmore, NY 11710 (516-409-5951).

Monday, May 27th:

  • All Stores (excepting the pay-by-the-pound Van Dam Outlet in Long Island City): Drop by Goodwill, and shop for 25% off at our storewide Memorial Day sale. Note: The sale will be held Saturday, May 25, in Bergen County, NJ and Sunday, May 26, at our other Northern New Jersey stores.

FYI: For your convenience, our stores will open this Memorial Day weekend. Get ready for summer! Saturday and Sunday, all stores open regular hours. Monday, May 27, * all stores open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. (Bergenfield and Paramus stores in New Jersey will be closed on Sunday as usual.)

Memorial Day is just around the corner. It’s mid-May, and many of us are starting to think about days at the beach and planning summer vacations. However, we’re not totally out of the Spring showers yet. In search of weather-wise, eco-smart, wallet-friendly style, our Lauren recently headed to her local Goodwill for this week’s Goodwill Gem: Surprise Spring/Summer Storm Rain Boots!

Pretty pink rain boots, like this lovely pair I found at my favorite local thrift, are perfect for sporting on rainy days, and will add a gorgeous pop of color to even the most blah of outfits.

Sun? Soon! But for now, we’re still getting those heavy duty spring rains – and storms that sometimes appear out of nowhere. It’s crucial to be prepared for unexpected weather at all times. And while you’re protecting your pretty toes from wet spring weather, it doesn’t hurt to still feel stylish at the same time.
