Goodwill Gems: Walk-Anywhere Wedges

The weather is gorgeous (sparing the random summer rainstorm, of course) and when the sun’s out, there’s nothing like a long summer walk to appreciate the season. In honor of this beautiful June, our Lauren strolled down to local Goodwill for the perfect compliment to summer sunshine, this week’s Goodwill Gem: Walk-Anywhere Wedges.

A funky mix of materials and neutral colors makes these wedge sandals a seriously sexy, stylish and bold item to add to any lady’s summer wardrobe.

There’s nothing better than going barefoot (at least, I think so). But when you’re in the city during the hot, humid summer months, barefoot is really never an option. But the next best thing? That absolutely perfect, comfy, cute, wear-with-everything pair of shoes that’s just right for stomping around on the concrete during those sultry summer months.

UWS, we’ve got great news!: Goodwill’s first Uptown Manhattan Boutique will open this Thursday, June 20th!

Come join us
Come join us at 157 West 72nd Street for our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on June 20th, starting at 10am!

Housed in the commercial base of a landmark brownstone with neo-Greco ornamentation built at the turn of the 20th century, Goodwill’s 72nd Street boutique and donation center is located at 157 West 72nd Street, New York, NY 10023, between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Continuing in the tradition of our two downtown boutiques in Greenwich Village and Chelsea, the 4,000 sq. ft. 72nd Street boutique will offer stylish, quality clothing and small household items at affordable prices. Customers may become Goodwill Rewards Card members to receive additional discounts.

Goodwill’s 72nd Street boutique will provide full- and part-time employment for up to 12 people, some of them persons with disabilities.

Goodwill stores offer local residents the opportunity to contribute to organization’s mission by donating unwanted belongings. Because Goodwill is a not-for-profit, contributed items in good condition are tax-deductible, and receipts are provided upon request.

Goodwill stores and DonationXpress, our attended donation centers, offer training and employment for individuals who are underserved or lack education or work experience. Some of them are people with physical, developmental and psychiatric disabilities. In Manhattan, Goodwill also works with the Department of Education to provide retail and job experience for students aging out of special education.

Be the first to learn about sales and promotions at Goodwill’s social media Facebook page and Twitter – and by checking back right here, of course! Thank you for all your support and we can’t wait to see you at the brand-new Uptown Manhattan Boutique!

Goodwill Gems: A Pop of Poppy Red

Green may mean go, but in fashion, we’re pushing the pedal to the metal on RED. This week, our Lauren raced to her local Goodwill for a trend she just can’t get enough of: crimson, cherry, lipstick -> RED. Take a look at this week’s Goodwill Gem: A Pop of Poppy Red.

This bold red bracelet is infinitely versatile and easier to wear than you think. Treat an accessory in a vivid hue like this as if it were a neutral – just don’t overdo it in the rest of your look.

A brilliant burst of red is a surefire way to bring new life to any old outfit. And that is exactly why I was so excited when I came across this fabulous piece at my local Goodwill shop this week.
