Goodwill Gems: Instant Fun Winter Shoes

What a wintery whallop we’ve just survived! It seems like most of the crazy cold has passed (in fact, it’ll be 55 and sunny in NYC today!) and what better way to celebrate the better weather than with new-to-you shoes? Our correspondent Lauren spotted her pair in two seconds flat at her local Goodwill. She didn’t buy them, so they may just still be out there for the takin’. Either way, there’s certainly more where those came from – so here’s to this week’s Goodwill Gem: Instant Fun Winter Shoes.

bbb
These lace-up black shoes are demure enough to complement your most professional work ensembles, but also fun enough – thanks to their cut-out detailing and trendy cap toe – to wear anywhere you choose.

Winter can wear you down. Shopping for all those practical items alone (heavy sweaters, down coats, snow boots) can take the fun out of quirky thrift finds. Well, I refuse to give up the hunt! Which is why, when I was lucky enough to spot an adorable little pair of lace-up heels like I did this week, I felt like I hit the jackpot.

Goodwill Gems: Flannel High Heels

How fierce is your flannel? Our correspondent Lauren has been on the look-out for winter wonders at her local Goodwill – so it’s no wonder that she stumbled on this seriously sassy pair of Rocket Dog heels. There’s nothing grunge about this week’s Goodwill Gem: Flannel High Heels.

sss
Toeing the line between schoolgirl and sass queen, these flannel-full pumps pack a wallop of fun, from their feminine round toe to their retro black heel. Heels this hot will warm up any winter!

Flannel is a cold-weather fabric staple, but it often gets relegated to the pajama drawer or reserved for weekend wear. But with a darling find like this sweet pair of shoes (found last week at one of my favorite local Goodwill stores) you can have your flannel and wear it, too, all in the name of flirty, fashion-forward fun. The high heel on this pair makes these flannel shoes look a lot more feminine, and even a little more professional, making them the perfect, slightly whimsical touch to a whole range of different outfits.

MTV Show Features Goodwill’s Washington Heights Store

It’s okay to admit it: it’s fun to be starstruck. Whether it’s spotting a celeb in the grocery store or retracing where Hannah hangs out on Girls, we completely understand the giddy rush of famous encounters. And guess what – it turns out our own Goodwill is taking a star turn too!

A few months back MTV filmed a scene for its new series, “Washington Heights,” turning a great place for deals and donations into a New York celeb! Come click HERE to see MTV’s Washington Heights put our local Goodwill in the spotlight, and check out this awesome still from the shoot:

“Washington Heights” follows nine best friends from the vibrant and diverse New York neighborhood. Together, they navigate the obstacles that stand in the way of their individual pursuits – following their dreams in fashion, music, baseball and poetry. Although they’re not all blood related, they still consider each other family, as every setback, celebration and next step on the road to success brings them closer together.
