Discovering Day & Dusk: This Week on Inside the Prop Closet

A few days ago, I started experimenting with painting rocks that I found outside. It’s just a little color blocking with acrylic paint and painter’s tape, but I love the results. Though an incredibly simple concept, there’s a poem in the process somewhere – in Mother Nature being dipped in black. I don’t have the words just yet. Maybe they’ll come later. Or maybe they’ll be given to someone else. Maybe to you?

Leopard & Cheetah & Zebra, Oh My!

You know what’s rad? Prints! From leopard to stripes to floral to paisley. Prints, though repetitive in nature, can be very bold. With bold visual power comes the feeling to default to pairing a print with a basic. But I say, if you’re going to run, you might as well run for gold! Go all out with your prints. They’re so easy to make – all you need is yarn, a thick, rectangular piece of something to wrap the yarn around, an embroidery needle and scissors. They look so charming on so many things: pillows, keychains and, in my case, apartment walls.
