Introducing: GoodwillNyNj’s Uptown Manhattan Boutique!

UWS, we’ve got great news!: Goodwill’s first Uptown Manhattan Boutique will open this Thursday, June 20th!

Come join us
Come join us at 157 West 72nd Street for our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on June 20th, starting at 10am!

Housed in the commercial base of a landmark brownstone with neo-Greco ornamentation built at the turn of the 20th century, Goodwill’s 72nd Street boutique and donation center is located at 157 West 72nd Street, New York, NY 10023, between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Continuing in the tradition of our two downtown boutiques in Greenwich Village and Chelsea, the 4,000 sq. ft. 72nd Street boutique will offer stylish, quality clothing and small household items at affordable prices. Customers may become Goodwill Rewards Card members to receive additional discounts.

Goodwill’s 72nd Street boutique will provide full- and part-time employment for up to 12 people, some of them persons with disabilities.

Goodwill stores offer local residents the opportunity to contribute to organization’s mission by donating unwanted belongings. Because Goodwill is a not-for-profit, contributed items in good condition are tax-deductible, and receipts are provided upon request.

Goodwill stores and DonationXpress, our attended donation centers, offer training and employment for individuals who are underserved or lack education or work experience. Some of them are people with physical, developmental and psychiatric disabilities. In Manhattan, Goodwill also works with the Department of Education to provide retail and job experience for students aging out of special education.

Be the first to learn about sales and promotions at Goodwill’s social media Facebook page and Twitter – and by checking back right here, of course! Thank you for all your support and we can’t wait to see you at the brand-new Uptown Manhattan Boutique!

Swing by the Goodwill Boutique this Friday morning and you might end up part of an awesome photography project celebrating reuse and second-hand living!

Jenna’s All Thrifty States: A Visual Journey through America’s Collective Closets is a photo project and upcoming book that takes an investigative look into the significance of second-hand shopping, and how consumers’ purchases of previously used items can be not only a choice that is healthy for the planet, but an answer to the consumerism that has pushed Americans’ spending habits to the max.

We hope you stop by the Goodwill Boutique to say hello, talk second-hand finds and celebrate reuse with us this Friday a.m.! And speaking of Friday (and Saturday and Sunday) a.m….. Here is our long-awaited, deal-filled Weekend Window Sale line-up for the coming days!:

Just in case you’re not in the know yet, a Goodwill Window Sale is when the best items in the store (which have been displayed in the window for days if not weeks) go on sale. There are often designer items and high-priced toys in the mix. We’ve seen everything from red lacquered Chinese lions to a Ferragamo heels to pristine electric guitars. Crowds form early, so try to get to the store well before doors open.

To find your nearest Goodwill, visit http://www.goodwillnynj.org/findgoodwill.aspx. And if you haven’t donated to Goodwill recently, now would be a great time – not only will you be helping your community, if you donate this April, you’ll get a free tote bag in the process!

Your donations make a difference. The more donations we get, the more for everyone to buy, and the more funding for our programs and services to keep changing lives.
