The New Pequannock Goodwill in Pompton Plains, NJ

The wait’s almost over! Starting September 19th, you’ll have one more place to shop, donate and support Goodwill: our new Pequannock store and donation center!

Located at 561 Route 23, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444, the 16,000 square foot store will be Goodwill’s second store in Morris County. It will offer quality clothing and household goods at affordable prices and will bring 25-30 jobs to the community.

The store will also provide retail training and work for persons with disabilities while offering local residents the opportunity to contribute to the mission of Goodwill by donating unwanted belongings. Donors will receive a tax receipt upon request.

Thanks to the support of our customers and donors, Goodwill served 100,000 individuals and placed 7,400 in competitive jobs last year. Goodwill’s mission is to empower individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work.

Goodwill NYNJ, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has helped New Jersey residents re-use and re-purpose unwanted possessions since we started there in 1919. In 2011, our agency diverted 60 million pounds of unwanted goods from landfills!

Thank you for helping us make a difference in your community. See you in Pompton Plains soon!

Goodwill Gems: Summer-to-Autumn Cowgirl Boots!

It’s almost time to send summer off into the sunset in style – and what better way than while wearing a great find for fall? Our corresondent Lauren ducking into her local Goodwill and came out with the perfect near-Autumn find. Here it is, this week’s Goodwill Gem: The Summer-to-Autumn Cowgirl Boots!

The soft tan leather and subtle, studded detailing of these cowgirl boots makes them an easy way to add a touch of homey, rustic appeal to any laid-back ensemble.

Brand new boots! If there’s anything else that can do a better job of tempering my sadness about the impending transition from summer to fall, I’m sure I don’t know what it is. A couple great pairs of boots are all a city girl needs to go from day to night, all year round – there’s no wardrobe item more versatile or more essential.

Mudhaffer Al-Momani lost his vision in adulthood to a genetic eye disease but found direction towards a bright life through Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey.

Mudhaffer didn’t let an eye disease keep him from seeing his dreams come true.

Mudhaffer didn’t let an eye disease keep him from seeing his dreams come true.

A year after coming here, my father passed away and my family fell into financial hardship afterwards. I left college and started working any job I could get so I could help my family and my siblings. I supported them financially to help their education as well.

A year later, I was diagnosed with a genetic eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa, called RP for short. I was told I would be losing my vision in a few years. I knew that the only way for me to succeed was to get my education.
