Here comes the sun – if not in the sky, at least in your smile. This week we’re focused on finds that’ll make up for any last-minute April showers, and Lauren‘s latest Goodwill discovery would bring warmth to any wardrobe. Introducing this week’s Goodwill Gem: That Golden Glow.
Warmth is on its way – and so the is dewy skin, bright eyes, shiny hair from healthy outdoor fun. But why should summer have all the fun? Bring a little glimmer in, no matter what the forecast is, with warm-toned metallic finds. It’s is a simple, classic way to brighten your look and feel that golden glow all over all year round!
This week’s gem is a brilliant metallic gold pendant that’s perfect in its sophisticated simplicity. There are no rhinestones on this necklace, no cutesy charms, jewels or sequins, and yet it immediately attracts the eye. But if you look closely, you’ll see that the piece has a design reminiscent of a big, retro Christmas light separated from its strand and surrounded instead by a pretty gold circle.
Boys may be boys, but girls can always steal their fashion. This week Lauren headed to Goodwill on the look-out for menswear-inspired pieces fit for a lady. Of course, this gal found her thriftastic, budget-loving Goodwill Gem: a pair of gorgeous black-and-white Tuxedo Heels.
Girls can get fashion inspiration from all sorts of places – even from men. Though spring is usually a time for flirty frocks in technicolor brights and pretty pastels, adding a piece or two with a masculine edge can really bring a bit of proper style to a city girl’s warm weather wardrobe.
Spring is the perfect season for the fashion flirt. On a gorgeous day, New York and Northern New Jersey are filled with beautiful people showing off their style. Refusing to be an average bird in this city coop, our Lauren set out to her Goodwill on a peacock-worthy hunt for fun. This week’s eye-catching Goodwill Gem: Glitter Flair.
A little glitter does a girl good. It adds a much-needed lightness and element of fun to any outfit, and wearing something fun can instantly bring up your mood. Usually a little goes a long way with the shimmery stuff. But if you play it just right, you can add a serious amount of sparkle to an everyday ensemble without looking like a discount party store just exploded all over your carefully created look.
This spring is all about color. Fed up with the greys of winter, our correspondent Lauren set out to mirror the sunshine-and-flower-filled landscape around her with a technicolor trip to her local Goodwill. As usual, the Goodwill hunting paid of in this week’s handsome Gem: the Sunburst Tote.
Vivid brights, pretty pastels, bold textures and prints – however you choose to incorporate color into your wardrobe this spring, don’t forget to bring in brilliant accessories, too! Styles this spring are fun, flirty and super colorful, and that sense of playfulness doesn’t have to be limited to just tops, bottoms, or breezy sundresses.
Loosen up… your style that is. It’s Spring, after all – celebrate with flowing layers, lighter colors and fun during this season of transformation and change. Our Lauren took her loose change over to Goodwill for a new look and, lucky girl, she found a gem. Here it is: The Romantic’s Locket.
Natural, effortless style. It’s what every woman wants – to look fabulous, feminine and put together without having to work at it. And especially when the weather starts to warm, as it has lately, a simple style created with pieces that feel as good as they look seems only fitting.
We’re feeling the Fever – Spring Fever, that is! With gorgeous weather, flower buds and sunshine in mind, our Lauren Haslett practically floated to her local Goodwill to see what Spring has sprung. The resulting treasure is this week’s Goodwill Gem…: the Perfect Straw Tote.
Hello, spring! When the skies are this blue, I want to spend all day under them; don’t you? So what better way to embrace the new season than by grabbing a new-to-you bag sturdy enough to take you everywhere under the sun?
Do you have your 4-leaf clover ready for a Goodwill adventure? St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. Our Lauren Haslett started the new month with a trip to her local Goodwill and chanced on a Goodwill gem fit for the holiday to come. Introducing: the Lucky (Green) Charm.
In celebration of the fresh new season we’re about to make our way into – as well as everyone’s favorite excuse to dress up and drink green beer – this week’s gem is a gorgeous green bauble that you can wear out during Irish-themed festivities. Best of all, once the rainbows and pots of gold disappear, this piece will stay treasured, ever-appropriate as an accessory for more sophisticated attire.
Did someone say Spring Cleaning? With the month of March pouncing like a lion, it’s hard not to let thoughts turn to sorting out those closets and filling them with fresh new looks for a new season – spring! Our Lauren Haslett heads to her local Goodwill for the perfect Spring fever find: a pair of bohemian sandals.
Spring? Bring it on! I have big plans to clean out my wardrobe and donate last season’s finds. Still, even this Goodwill-loving girl needs encouragement. To spur on my Spring Cleaning efforts, I’ve set my sights on new-to-me finds, those items just begging to fill up the space the no-longer-neededs will free up once gone.
Winter wearing you down? Once you’ve found your outerwear at our Goodwill Mardi Gras Sale, turn up the fun with some glimmering, shimmering wrist candy. There’s nothing like a shiny trinket to catch the eye and quicken the pulse – at least, not if you’re our correspondent Lauren. All that glitters is a go with this week’s Goodwill Gem: the Gold Cuff.
This gold cuff is simple, but it makes a statement. And lately, to me, making a statement, in whatever way possible, feels like the right thing to do. Maybe I’ve spent too many months all covered up, or maybe I’m just sick of winter’s grey, but whatever the reason, I’ve been in the mood to add a bit of shine and color to everyday looks, even if in a small way.
This week’s gem – a simple, gleaming gold cuff – is an elegant way to do just that. The clean, modern lines and lack of sparkle (or any other distracting details) makes this an easy piece to wear day in and day out. It’s a shot of instant glamor, but doesn’t look gaudy or require anything else of an outfit in order to give you that sensational touch. This isn’t a super trendy piece you’ll put away after a season or a year; this is the kind of bracelet you’ll want to keep at the top of your jewelry drawer for years to come.
You could wear an uncomplicated accessory like this one with anything from a frilly cocktail dress to jeans and a t-shirt. In fact, it’s a great piece to pair with those fail-safe pieces that get lots of wear – the kinds of pieces that do double or even triple duty in your wardrobe, the kind you wear to work, then for cocktails, then to a date or a special event.
Here, I’ve set the canvas for success, adding the gold cuff to a basic background of black leggings and knit tunic. Notice those bright gold buttons – a subtle way to echo the metallic gleam of my bracelet somewhere else in the ensemble. With a pair of classic high-heeled black booties to complete the look, I have an effortlessly chic outfit I can wear almost anywhere.
