It’s summer! School’s out, the sun’s out, and everyone wants to go out… to the ball game. It is prime sports season and whether it’s your own freewill or not, you will most likely find yourself watching a game. For fans, sporting events can be a joyous occasion. The suspense of the game and the rigor of the crowd are what you wait for all year. You’re in your element. However, if you’re anything but a sports fan, you’re in your worst nightmare. The suspense of the game is like watching paint dry and the rigor of the crowd scares you. Whether you love or despise the game, you still want to look your best. That can be hard to do when you’re trying to dress for the sporting occasion. Over-sized t-shirts and unisex jerseys are tricky to feel your absolute best in. If you’re a sports fan, you won’t be able to enjoy the game as much as you would if you don’t feel confident in your attire. If you’re anything but a sports fan, sometimes your outfit (and the food) are the only thing you’ll be looking forward to on the big game day. Either way, we’ve provided two different ways you can style your sporting goods. Checkout the lineup!

Sport 1

This outfit is perfect for one of two people: the avid sports game goer or the completely clueless about sports but still goes-er. The signed ESPN shirt is perfect for these very different people. You can turn up to any sporting event and still be on par, considering that ESPN is a sports network that covers a wide variety of sports. The t-shirt is over-sized, but that can work in your favor if you roll up the sleeves and tuck it into whatever bottoms you decide to wear. We’ve decided to create a feminine look, playing with the indicative red ESPN logo. We’ve complemented the tee with a short red skirt and matching heels. You might even want to wear red lipstick. The cased baseball is optional. This outfit is perfect for any sporting occasion, ranging from baseball games to football viewing’s at your parents’ house.

This is for anyone that is a team player, but doesn’t want to look like one. At a game, you’ll probably see many people wearing your favorite player’s jersey. Make yourself stand out by incorporating your own style, or at least our style. We’ve combined this Laker’s jersey with high waisted flair jeans. You may also want to include a funky belt like this chained one. Whether or not you want to BYOB (bring your own basketball) is up to you.

@PlanetBrandee SUMMER POP QUIZ!

“Hint: This piece of clothing will keep you cool and comfortable this summer”

I’m back in New York City, the humidity is high, and somehow weather went from Octoberesque Spring chill to full on hail Mary HOT August temps! Is there even a remote chance of normal weather in New York City anymore?

With my AC on blast, I decided it’s time we have another POP QUIZ!

What do the author Nicole Richie, Actors Mary Kate, Rihanna and Angelina Jolie ALL have in common? Hint: It’s a universally flattering and all natural solution to riding the subway and being sweaty gross sad. Give up? It’s easy and breezy sundresses!

But before we rally a cry of “I don’t look good in floral, my arms are too fat for that” or the well known excuse “I lost my razor in the snowpacalypse of 2015.” Let’s take a quick look at the icons and inspirations leading women into their own blowy, gauzy realm of summertime fashion:

pic 2 sundressIcon #1 Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie may very well be the mother of all sundresses, particularly the gauzy maxi sect. She’s sported these straight through the Paris Hilton TV show days, all the way into motherhood and looked effortlessly comfy the whole time. It helps she’s incredibly petite, but as you’ll see, it’s not just the waif look that love the sundress aesthetic!

sundress pic 3Icon #2 Jill Scott

Oh yeah, you thought this was a boring, traditional recap? Not so my fashion loving friends. Another contender who rocks tribal prints on blousy sundresses with a new twist is the incredibly talented Miss Jill Scott! Headwraps make this look pop, and there are some fabulous ones to be found at the women empowering Fanm Djanm, someone I religiously follow on Instagram for colorful, strong inspiration. Expect to be DAZZLED by the crossover fashion eye candy.

pic 1 sundressIcon #3 Jessica Simpson

Ok, so I take it back, we WILL stay a little on the tradish’ side, but frankly, this girl lives in cowboy boots and sundresses, so it’s one of those things you HAVE to nod at when it comes to the norm. Rocking floral prints, cowboy hats and boots is a given when you’re ol’ school blonde ambition type. If you can’t hack the female warrior Turk gear, play it safe with leather lace ups and wavy, beach winded hair.

I’m off to a new adventure this weekend, and hope to see you rocking your own look, in a unique style too! So the next time you’re perusing the racks at Goodwill, take a minute and head to the dress section, you may very well find your inner Coachella or Mad Max summer babe waiting for you! Think you look better than Jessica? Rocking floral and combat boots in public? Stomping out a look we haven’t seen yet? Or just score an amazing #Goodwill find?! Let me know! And follow my fashion, food and travel treks on Twitter and Instagram @PlanetBrandee – till then, see you on the streets!!

Goodwill Essentials: The Blazer

Hear that? It’s the sweet sound of Fall Fashion. This week, our Emme gives in to the siren song of cooler breezes and colored leaves and sets her sights on a Goodwill Essential perfect for autumn (and tailor-made to guarantee a low cost per wear this season): the blazer.

Just a sampling of the whole rack of blazers at Goodwill!

Summer’s making its exit, but that’s no reason style has to do the same. The blazer is one of my favorite no-fail go-to’s when the weather cools down – so thank goodness that Goodwill is full of fantastic options to choose from!

Why is it essential?

Goodwill Essentials: High Heels

Our Emme is walking tall – and she wants you to do the same! With last week’s Optimal Play flirty skirt, who can blame her? Whether you pair them with dresses or jeans, though, this week’s Goodwill Essentials post makes for a good time. So here it is, the essential of the week: high heels.

My favorite part of walking into any Goodwill store!

“Give a girl the correct footwear and she can conquer the world.” — Bette Midler

I am, unabashedly, a lover of shoes. I might not always go for a practical pair, but new shoes always bring a little spring to my step. And hey, we all need shoes, right? So instead of blowing my rent on shoes, I turn to Goodwill to satiate my shoe thirst.

Why Is it Essential?
