Get ready thrift friends because I’m about to divulge some of my best thrift hacks. Check out some of my ultimate thrift hacks below:
- Be Patient
As an avid thrift shopper, I understand the importance of making time to thrift shop. I can’t simply walk into a thrift store and expect to find that little black dress in an hour. I couldn’t even do that in a traditional department store. It becomes even more of a challenge in a secondhand shop where there is one of each style.
2. Be Open-minded
You know that Rolling Stones song ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’? Well, this is true especially when it comes to secondhand shopping. You may find a dress that’s perfect for prom. You’ve been dreaming about a dress just like it but it’s a few sizes too small. You’ll have better luck if you keep an open mind. New items come in store every week and sometimes every few days. A secondhand shop may feature all black combat boots one day and red kitten heels the next. Don’t stress out about it! Just adjust your expectations and you may find something even nicer!
3. Be knowledgeable
They say “what you don’t know won’t kill you”. Uh, false! Knowledge is power. Like knowing the color of the day at your favorite Goodwill. It’s also really helpful to know that our rewards card offers points for every dollar spent. Points that you can use to purchase even more things in the future.
4. Become friends with your tailor
Remember when I said to be open-minded? Well, your tailor might help. If you find a gem of a denim jacket but find it’s too small bring don’t leave it on the rack! That’s nothing a good tailor can’t fix. Besides, oversized jackets are really in right now.
