@PlanetBrandee Get it together! A 3 Part Series for National Get Organized Month

LIVE from the overstuffed closets of New York City

Thanks for joining us for Part 2 of this 3 Part Series on getting organized. If you haven’t read steps 1-5, go check them out in last week’s post.

Here’s an idea you might actually stick to: As is your home, so is your mind. This January, let’s drag out those boxes of “junk”: Old high school jeans and things we don’t use. Start a master purge feng shui style for National Get Organized Month.

Step #2: Get it DONE!

  1. Get rid of any office supplies you haven’t used in the past year. Return them to the store for credit or donate them to your favorite charity. Ding ding ding GOODWILL! The less clutter there’s in your office, the more happiness you’ll get in your life. If you buy a new printer, donate the old one. Here’s one of our fave points: DONATE what you don’t need! If you have two, give one the boot. We’re all guilty sometimes of holding on to things we don’t need in one way or another. So clean it up and get it done.
  2. Boooo the TAX MAN cometh! Start planning now for the next tax year. Label a box “Next Year’s Taxes,” and put it in your office. This box will hold all your tax-related documents throughout the year: bank statements, receipts for business expenses, online statements indicating what bills you paid and charity receipts. All of which beats searching for the paperwork at the end of the year. We couldn’t agree more. Keeping receipts from travel if your work has you doing that as well is a GREAT pointer.
  3. Update your Rolodex. (and by this we mean dump stale contacts!) Clear out all the cards of people you never called last year. Here, here! This also goes for clearing that cache of old necessary FB and social contacts as well. Clear your slate 100%.Screen Shot 2016-01-15 at 12.59.10 PM
  4. Feng Shui. FENG SHUI!
