When the weather is awful, there’s only one thing we all want in our wardrobe – cozy.
When the windchill makes it feel 10 degrees colder than it actually is and all your many layers still don’t feel like enough, you want absolutely everything you’re wearing to be warm, soft, and seriously comfortable, and nothing less will do.
That’s why I was so delighted to stumble across this week’s gem at a local Goodwill shop. When all you’re wearing are big, chunky knit sweaters and your fleece-lined leggings, you want accessories that are equally comfy and casual. And this week’s find is certainly that – this sweet little purse could be worn over the shoulder with the light strap or as a clutch, and either way, it would be a truly adorable addition to any winter outfit. The super soft, felt-like fabric is everything you want in the middle of January’s bone-chilling cold, and the heathered brown fabric is neutral and earthy – subtle and just perfect for pairing with an array of gentle, muted hues and rich fabrics.
Doll up your drab winter wear.
It’s easy, when throwing on casual wear, to feel like it just isn’t worth the time or the trouble to accessorize. After all, the whole point of going casual is to make things easier on yourself, right? Well, partially right. There’s certainly nothing wrong with easy, but casual wear is really all about being relaxed and comfortable, and that doesn’t mean you have to ignore accessories altogether. Here, I’ve thrown together a laid-back, comfy outfit that will complement my sweet new handbag by layering several pieces that are all soft, stretchy and comfortable – underneath a sheer, flowing, flowered tank I have a soft cotton tank, and on top of both of those items, a cozy beige cardigan in a rustic knit to ensure I stay warm, despite the cold outside. On the bottom, I have nothing but a favorite pair of well-worn-in jeans. This ensemble couldn’t possibly be simpler, but the combination of different colors, textures, and fabrics (and accessorizing with my brand new bag, of course) means this look still appears totally put together and quite cute.
