New York University’s seventh annual “Green Apple Move Out” (GAMO) collection project for NYU Residence Halls has been a huge success so far. Students moving out this spring are able to drop off their unwanted and gently used items at designated bins for collection and donation to Goodwill NY-NJ up until May 29th. This year we have placed bins in 17 dorms throughout the campus.
Since 2008, we have collected nearly 400,000 pounds of reusable goods. This equals roughly $920,000 and with that we are able to provide Robotics workshops for elementary children, adaptive technology to train individuals who are visually impaired, art supplies for individuals with psychiatric disabilities, social and safety skills training for individuals with autism, interview clothing for job-seekers and more.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to NYU and students both past and present. Not only are you improving your future and environment, through your donations you are helping to improve the present for so many in our community.
