Today starts Goodwill Industries Week
Every year during the first full week of May, all 165 Goodwill’s across the world come together to celebrate Goodwill Industries Week. Goodwill Industries Week was first celebrated in May 1951 to mark the birth of Edgar J. Helms, the founder of the Goodwill philosophy and to encourage local Goodwill agencies to educate their communities about the mission of “helping people with disabilities help themselves.” This year, Goodwill NY-NJ will celebrate with a week long sale!

A huge thank you goes out to Uber and to all of you who participated in #UberSpringCleaning. The Uber drivers were kept busy on Saturday; there were over 750 pick-ups between 10am and 6pm. Pickups were extended for two extra hours due to demand. We are so grateful to the Uber drivers and of course to you our donors for cleaning up your closets and donating to Goodwill! In total we received over 2,200 bags of donations – that is almost 300 bags every hour!
Since 2012, Goodwill has been able to divert more than six billion bounds of goods from landfills nationally thanks to donors like you. Locally, Goodwill NY-NJ helped resident’s keep more than 87 million pounds of unwanted goods from local landfills last year. Not only are you making an impact in your closet, you are making an impact on the planet.
To thank you for your participation, Uber offers promo code GoodwillNYNJ to receive $25 off your first trip with them.
