The Goodwill Insider: Bring out the holly! Ring the bells! Jingle all the cliché!

Yes, it’s the holidays, and you’re ready to be in New York City, wear that fantastic outfit as you sip your spiced hot chocolate, and start dreaming of a white Christmas. But where’s a gal, or dapper guy, to go and find THE best instagram envy-inducing holiday photo ops? Fear not my sugarplums; this list nails down some pretty mint suggestions! Grab your riding boots and your cheesy Santa hat and let’s DO this!

First stop: The upper floors of the Time Warner Building
Here you can take in the breathtaking views of Central Park clad in winter, as well as an impressive display of holiday lights, including the giant icy blue stars I photographed here. Go upstairs for a hot chocolate at the cozy Stone Rose Lounge and get a photo near the window with the holiday gift fair and NYC skyline below.

Second stop: SantaCon NYC, December 14th 2013
Love it or hate it, SantaCon is insane rollicking ride, and if nothing else makes you wish for New Years more, it’s usually this all day party. Take in revelers dancing in the streets and get a photo op with a subway train full of Santa clad riders. Not really for the kids, so be ready for some interesting characters like these fun girls I ran into on this velvet flocked adventure.

Third Stop: The Giant Ornaments at the Sixth Avenue building
This is a BIG photo op, so bring the good camera. Every year in front of this building is a gorgeous red cluster of ornaments fit for a giant. Bring the friends and do this traditional hug and smile photo op. Check out Radio City and other attractions nearby as well.

Fourth Stop: Rolf’s German Restaurant
Rolf’s is hands down THE quintessential New York City holiday dining experience, pressed meads, sparkling ciders and sumptuous German food all rounded out by dining in a sea of glorious kitsch and classic holiday lights. Be sure to tip the servers generously and they’ll help you get a great group photo op under this warm and cozy decor.

Final Stop: Santa’s LAP!
Sure it’s a little much, but what’s a girl to do when she’s got a great red dress, good friends and a holiday photo op list completed? A quick sit down with Santa that’s what!

two ladies sitting on a happy santaAll over New York City there is a variety of Santa’s. From mom and pop’s shops in Brooklyn to the classic Macy’s Santaland, there’s sure to be a Kringle who can help you get that perfect Facebook photo with a friend or two like I did. Be sure to thank the elves too, the holidays are a tough crowd for these patient workers!

That’s it for this round of holiday blogging, I’m out and about next week, but be sure to tune in after a I’ll be covering some sparkling, festive holiday and New Year’s Eve outfits as well as a pointers for wrapping out the 2013 year with a bang!
