If you didn’t know already, donating to Goodwill not only gets your closet in order for the new school year, but your donations also help those in need with after-school and mentoring programs for children and youth, and by providing training and job support services for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Goodwill is a not-for-profit organization that helps those in need get back on their feet, and our youth to get back on the right track to a brighter future.
Here are a few tips for doing your back-to-school clean out:
Ask your kids to try on old shoes and clothing to see what still fits.
- Pack the items that no longer fit in a reusable bag (plastic is so bad for the planet) and head for your nearest Goodwill — click here for the store locator.
- Donate the items with your children to show them how important it is to give back to those in need.
- Your donation is tax deductible, so be sure to ask for a receipt.
- Take full advantage of Goodwill’s back to school sale from on August 5-8 where you can receive 25% off school supplies and clothing!
There you have it, getting ready for back to school with a closet clean-out in a few simple steps. Did you ever think that helping others would make your closet look good and make you feel good at the same time? I knew it would.
