Goodwill Gems: Awesome Ombre Sandals

Happy Summer bonus time! Instead of just one Goodwill Gems this week, we’re giving you two – and we’re head over heels about both of them. From Monday’s piece on neon sneaks to today’s great find on sandals, we hope you enjoy our Lauren’s fancy footwork thrifting her favs at her local Goodwill. So, without any further walk-about, here’s this week’s second (!) Goodwill Gem: Awesome Ombre Sandals.

Though you may be more used to seeing it in the latest celeb hairdos, ombre is in, and the varying shades of the straps on these lovely sandals is a subtle and stylish way to work it into your wardrobe rather than (or maybe in addition to) your hairstyle.

Footwear is practically a fetish with me. I love a good pair of shoes, especially a fabulous pair of open-toed summer sandals. Sadly, wonderfully wearable, comfortable, and still-stylish shoes are not so easy for a lady to find, so I’ll never hesitate to pick up a pair I adore when I’m lucky enough to find one.

And that’s why I really felt like I hit the jackpot this weekend when scouring my local Goodwill for some spotlight-worthy new gems.

I found myself some fantastic new footwear, and they’re just the kind of summer shoes that will complement any lady’s effortlessly chic summer wardrobe. A thick wedge heel means that, in addition to looking gorgeous, they won’t be causing the wearer serious pain after an hour or two on the town.

Thick straps in soft, buttery leather will keep tootsies securely in place, without chafing or creating agonizing blisters, even on the hottest, stickiest, and sweatiest of summer days. And the lovely ombre color scheme, starting with a classic black at the top, down to a soft, warm gray, and finally to a shimmering metallic gold, means they’re totally on trend, and will also match with absolutely any outfit in your summer closet.

I also can’t help but adore an accessory that easily goes with everything. Whether it’s jewelry or scarves, bags or shoes, I love a piece that I can be confident will get lots of wear. And these shoes are so wonderful because, not only are they amazing to look at and totally trendy, but they’re also the kind of shoes you can wear anywhere with anything.

Their subtle colors and wildly high wedge can instantly add a touch of elegance to anything from your favorite pair of black pants to a breezy and beautiful dress in a bright summer shade. And since they are decked out in three different neutrals – black, gray, and metallic – anyone who owns them would never have to worry about clashing, no matter what other colors or patterns were also in the mix.

Simple and perfect for summer, a flowing, airy dress in a vivid color is the perfect outfit to pair with these chic wedge sandals in a mix of neutral shades.

Here, I’ve simply paired them with one of my own much-loved summer dresses in a vibrant blue and some mixed metal earrings – the combination of bronze, black, gray, and gold in the jewels echoes the mix of hues in the heels, and with two such perfectly paired pieces, you really don’t need anything else at all to finish this easy but elegant summer look.
