Green may mean go, but in fashion, we’re pushing the pedal to the metal on RED. This week, our Lauren raced to her local Goodwill for a trend she just can’t get enough of: crimson, cherry, lipstick -> RED. Take a look at this week’s Goodwill Gem: A Pop of Poppy Red.
A brilliant burst of red is a surefire way to bring new life to any old outfit. And that is exactly why I was so excited when I came across this fabulous piece at my local Goodwill shop this week.
This fabulously big, chunky bracelet still manages to be feminine, and its deep ruby-red stones and rhinestones – set in a classic dark silver metal – will look amazing with nearly everything in my closet. Though definitely a large statement piece, this bracelet isn’t so loud and crazy that you can’t wear it for all sorts of occasions, from any old day at the office to a special occasion dinner or a festive Fourth of July party.
So how to wear it? Be bold. Whether you need to jazz up some basics or just feel like your overall clothing selection is little too black and somber, a brave bit of red is an instant wardrobe wake-up.
It’s beyond easy to pair this bright bracelet with a neutral ensemble (and you all know how much I love those!). But just because this accessory comes in such a vivid color doesn’t mean you can only wear it with black or white.
Lots of other colors look great next to a brilliant shock of red for contrast. Just keep this rule of thumb in mind – this red will look best against other rich, super-saturated colors.
Here, I’ve chosen to contrast it with some black (but of course), and a tank in a deep teal-blue pattern. The peacocky color of this top is also deep and rich, and looks lovely next to the equally saturated red bracelet. Stay away from colors of another type entirely (like neons) and stick to lush, jewel-toned hues, and you can’t possibly go wrong!
