Ick! Sometimes March weather just isn’t pretty – which is all the more reason for great style to brighten our day. Our correspondent Lauren is tackling this season’s weather at her local Goodwill. From shockingly blue Color-Blocked Kicks to lipstick red Super Vivid Arm Candy, our tag-popping color-seeker is at it again. Introducing this week’s Good Gem: Bring-the-Heat Hot Pink Heels.
Sleet, showers, and wind. Oh my! But all this crazy, sometimes confusing weather means spring really is on its way. To make sure you and your wardrobe are ready for the switch in seasons, head out now to get great deals on a few crucial spring pieces that will take you straight through to summer, all while looking effortlessly stylish, of course.
A pair of hot pink heels, like this sassy pair of Steve Maddens I recently stumbled across at my local Goodwill store, are just that kind of must-snag spring accessory. Their mood-boosting magenta hue makes them feel springy in a big way, and the perfect pair of shoes to wear when ushering in a new, warmer season. But their suede material also makes them look and feel substantial enough to support those transitional, between-season looks that continue to make use of your most-loved winter items.
So how to wear such a spring-ready pair of hot pink shoes? Here’s one thought:
A pair of feisty, fabulously bright heels like this one would be easy to pair with anything in black, white, or gray – and there’s certainly nothing wrong with using them to finish off a timeless, classy outfit composed of your favorite neutral pieces. But if you’re feeling a little more daring, there’s also no reason you can’t put these darling pumps on with another equally bright, springy item from your closet.
In this look, I’ve still used one neutral piece – an airy, white blouse that looks and feels cool when it starts to heat up outside. But underneath that, I’ve put on my favorite pair of colorful denim – a stretchy trouser in a super bright blue – and this vibrant pant looks surprisingly fab with my new pink shoes. The key, I think, is that both the blue and pink are technically on the cool side of the color spectrum, so they work in harmony to create a beautifully bright springtime look, rather than fighting against each other.
