Remember Summer Vacation, a time full of family trips to far off places? Even if 2012 was more staycation than vacation, filling your closet with exotic finds can be a great way to feel worldly. This week, our Lauren trades Italy for her local Goodwill, and makes out with a molta bella handbag perfect for Fall at a piccolo price (and let’s not even mention the airfare she saved…). Here it is, this week’s Goodwill Gem: The Staycation Vacation Find.
Where can you find a chic bag that sports a “Made in Italy” label without a sky-high price tag? Only at your local Goodwill, of course!
This week’s find is a casual bag that’s perfect for schlepping books (we are heading into back-to-school season, after all), or any items you might need to lug with you on your journeys around town. And though the weather is still warm and sunny, cooler days are fast approaching.
Since I’m not quite ready to give up my summer clothes for sweaters just yet, this practical purse is the perfect compromise. Made of soft yarn in cream and beige, its muted color and cozy texture, along with its laid-back style, are exactly what I need to help me with the transition to crisper weather and busy, work-filled days.
This is clearly the perfect bag for comfy days. It’s an obvious choice with your favorite jeans and well-worn tee, but during these days when one season is starting to wind down and another hasn’t quite begun, it can also be a great way to top off an otherwise summery look.
Above, I’ve paired it with a soft yellow skirt and lace-topped taupe tank – summer pieces, to be sure, but in warm fall-inspired hues that partner perfectly with a my comfy, roomy, slouchy new weekend bag.
