We’re in the heat of summer – let’s enjoy it while we can! How? With easy-on-the-wallet, easy-on-the-eyes, easy-on-the-temperature accessory finds that’ll lighten up your wardrobe long after this season has passed. Our correspondent Lauren skipped off to her local Goodwill this week to see what she could find. In no time flat, she came up with a winner – this week’s Goodwill Gem: the Nude Tote.
Endless Summer? I wish! As much as I’d like to pretend otherwise, this summer will eventually come to a close – so now is the perfect time to start sourcing pieces that work great with your summer favorites, but will live on in autumn as well. Which leads us to this tote…
The warm neutral tone of a nude leather tote is the perfect complement to summer’s brights and cool whites, but also looks lovely next to fall tones like reds, burgundies, deep purples and oranges. Its simple yet structured shape and practical shoulder-length straps make it the kind of purse you can easily grab and throw on as you run out the door in the morning, and it’s exactly the right size to hold an extra pair of flats or snacks for the office.
You can wear a chic, classy bag like this one with absolutely anything – one reason it’s such a spectacular find. But to make it stand out while this season’s on, pair it with breezy summer pieces in light, loose fabrics and vivid colors, like the pair of bright coral wide-leg trousers I’ve chosen here.
The pants certainly stand out, especially when topped with a simple tank in a soft, subtle gray and white print. But against such a brilliant-hued backdrop, this seemingly basic bag takes on a whole new life, and its clean lines and simple construction really pull the look together and keep it from feeling too big, bold and out there for everyday wear.
