Boys may be boys, but girls can always steal their fashion. This week Lauren headed to Goodwill on the look-out for menswear-inspired pieces fit for a lady. Of course, this gal found her thriftastic, budget-loving Goodwill Gem: a pair of gorgeous black-and-white Tuxedo Heels.
Girls can get fashion inspiration from all sorts of places – even from men. Though spring is usually a time for flirty frocks in technicolor brights and pretty pastels, adding a piece or two with a masculine edge can really bring a bit of proper style to a city girl’s warm weather wardrobe.
These cut-out, patent pumps have a bold (yet classic) black-and-white color scheme and a lace-up detail that’s reminiscent of a tuxedo – but with a hint of femininity. The skinny stiletto heel also adds a girlier touch to these shoes and keeps them from looking too clunky or mannish. Sexy, sassy, and yet clearly covered in style ideas borrowed from the boys closet, these sky-high shoes add a kick of clean-cut style that’s perfectly suited for work or play.
Dress them up, dress them down. For work, these daring heels would look fabulous with a pair of wide-leg, floor-sweeping white trousers in an airy summer fabric and a brightly colored silk tank or tee. Below, though, I’m using them to dress up a more casual, yet effortlessly chic look that’s perfect for a Friday at the office or a weekend brunch with friends.
The crisp coral tee adds a pop of much-needed color on top and is accented by a pretty printed scarf, which is covered in swirls of polka dots in various complementary hues. The solid black cropped pant – classic, clean-cut and easy, is just the right way to ground this casual look and really set off these stunning black-and-white stilettos.
