Winter’s in the air, but Spring is on the way. Is your wardrobe ready? Our correspondent Lauren bundles up to treasure hunt at her local Goodwill for soon-to-be-seasonal finds. With a good eye and a sense of coming sunshine, she happened to capture this week’s Goodwill Gem, a gem that radiates sunshine adventures in and of itself: the Spring Vacation Bracelet.
We’ve been lucky to have a very (very) mild winter this year, certainly by the usual East Coast standards. But finally, in mid-February, it feels like winter has hit, with a wind blowing and flurries in the mix. Funny, though, this belated jump into real winter weather has only gotten me thinking about the fast-approaching spring. And with those things on my mind, how could I pass up this week’s find?
It’s a stone-studded, beaded bracelet that instantly transports me to a time and place where there’s sun, sand and a warm, salty ocean breeze – even if there is still a blustery chill here. The variety of colors, sizes and shapes of stones in this big bangle creates an unexpected visual that everyone will just have to notice.
It can be tricky to decide what to put on with such a standout statement piece – how do you find items with the right amount of personality, but that won’t overshadow or fight with it? I say, you can always wear it with a basic white tee, bright scarf, boots and your favorite pair of jeans for an classic, easy weekend look with a slightly artsy, bohemian vibe.
For a more adventurous look that plays up that bohemian feel, pull out a free-flowing summer skirt from storage – here, I’ve put on a bright pink piece with a subtle pattern that flows down to mid-calf, keeping it simple on top with a form-fitting white tee. With a pair of cozy knit tights and your favorite boots, you’ll still be able to brave the February chill (but you’ll look and feel ready for warmer days).
