The holiday season is full of fun, fabulous parties and good cheer. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t days during this joyful time of year when you have to be serious – and look the part, too. Getting down to business, then, our correspondent Lauren beelined it to her local store for this week’s Goodwill Gem: Seal the Deal Heels.
December is a fantastic time for parties – but it’s also a great time for yearly reviews, possible promotions, and maybe (if you’ve been in touch with GoodTemps) promising job interviews. Tackle these job opportunities with style – and take a look at what one great pair of shoes can do…
This week, Goodwill came to my aid with a straight-laced gem that’s sure to get me through those big deal moments looking and feeling my best. (And there are plenty more pairs where these came from, btw…)
These black stilettos with a stripe pattern in a contrasting white are both stylish and authoritative. The stripe pattern mimics a classic pinstripe, making them the perfect pair of heels to complement your go-to office outfits. The bit of shine on the black leather and the pointed toe demand attention. A confident, sophisticated outfit can help show the working world that you are a woman to be taken seriously – exactly the aura you want to give off during a work event, meeting, or interview.
Now, what to pair with the heels? A modern-day play on the business suit works. A pair of classy heels like these may be the highlight of your signature career ensemble, but the rest of your look has to be just as sharp as the shoes to truly be pulled off.
Since you can never go wrong in classic black and clean lines, I’ve chosen to pair these stellar shoes with a simple black blouse. The deep v-neck cut accentuates a feminine shape, but isn’t too revealing, and the small amount of volume in the sleeve adds a bit of softness to this otherwise razor-sharp look. A pinstripe vest nips in at the waist and tightens up the outfit, while simultaneously mirroring the striped pattern in the shoes. Finally, a dark gray trouser with just a little sheen keeps the bottom half of the outfit sleek and simple, and dresses it up just a bit more than another plain black piece.
