Back to school, back to work – Fall’s beautiful, but busy! It’s still gorgeous enough to walk (or run?) wherever you’re headed – but your shoes better be up to the task. Our Lauren Haslett returns to her local Goodwill looking for heels ready for both business and pleasure. Take a look at this week’s Goodwill Gem: the high-heeled mini-bootie.
It may still seem too early to be so into boots, but with cooler weather already here (at least intermittently), I can’t help but keep my eyes peeled for fall-appropriate footwear. And how could I pass up these fabulous black booties?
I snagged these style gems at a local Goodwill store. The pointy toe and delicate heel make them appear uber-feminine. The silver buckle detail gives these shoes some visual interest, breaking up all the black and adding shine. This is a great shoe for everyday wear throughout the fall season, so a girl gets even more bang for her hard-earned buck (Cost-Per-Wear, anyone?) from such a smart thrift purchase.
These little boots rock in a big way. And it’s because they’re so versatile. Since they reach only to the ankle, they’re effortlessly paired with almost anything, from skirts or shorts and tights to some office-appropriate dress pants to your favorite pair of worn-in denim or cozy leggings. No matter what look you choose, it’s pretty hard to go wrong with a classic little pair of boots like these – and who doesn’t like something that’s impossible to screw up?!
So with all those options, how will I wear them? How about paired with this:
Here I’ve chosen a funky pair of faux-leather leggings, a tunic top in a vivid teal for a pop of color, and motorcycle-style jacket with silver zipper details on the sleeves (echoing the silver buckle detail in the booties). This chic yet casual look is just the thing for a cool, drizzly fall Saturday brunch with friends or an unfussy night out dancing with the girls.
How would you wear mini-booties like these? Tell me in the comments here, on our Facebook page or through a @GoodwillNyNj tweet. I love seeing your style, so keep us posted! Stay classy, New York & New Jersey!
