Goodwill Wants Your Old Prom Dresses

Calling all fabulous females!: Bring out your bridesmaid dresses, your prom dresses, your not-quite-your-size frocks, your way-back-when gowns and give them to girls who can make them shine a second time.

Let your gown keep giving - give it to Goodwill & we'll give it to the girls!

This Sunday, April 3rd from 1 to 3 p.m., Goodwill’s Patchogue Store in Long Island will collect gently-used dresses that girls from low-income families may use during their prom, awards ceremony, or graduation events. For the first time, Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey joins this initiative from the Long Island Volunteer Center.

You will feel so good about finding a place to give up your beautiful dress for someone who will appreciate it at much as you did. Used dresses hold fond memories. Help us help others create new memories that will last a lifetime.

Please drop your gently used dresses or any other donations for Goodwill at the rear entrance of the Goodwill Patchogue Store. All dresses and accessories will then be distributed free of charge to girls of families across Long Island who cannot easily absorb the expense of a new gown for their prom, awards ceremony, or graduation event. High school guidance counselors, at-risk youth agencies, group homes, and church outreaches make the program available to their constituents. Over 1,200 girls benefited in 2010 from 60 different schools and nonprofit youth organizations across Long Island.
