Brights vs. whites. During the warm summer months (which we’re now fast approaching), many of us are tempted to trade our blacks and grays for crisp whites and declare our summer wardrobe problems solved. This week, though, Lauren punches it up a notch at her local thrift shop. Introducing our latest Goodwill Gems: Neon!

This super-thin belt in a brilliant neon yellow will quickly punch up even the most lackluster summer look.
Sure white’s alright, but why settle for alright when you can have outrageous? A clean, summery white is always in style, but even that classic go-to can stop feeling fresh and start feeling boring. If you’re a no-frills kind of girl, and not one for fem feathers, bangles or baubles, a wallop of color can be an effortless way to instantly refresh a basic outfit.
Neon belts, like this vivid patent yellow one I found at my local Goodwill, are an easy accessory fix – they add an eye-catching pop of color right around the waist, where they’re sure to be spotted, but are still simple and utilitarian enough to work with the rest of a uncomplicated, streamlined look like this one:
From basic to bangin’. This summer, neon is so on-trend, and an easy way to wear these impossibly bright shades, without overpowering the rest of your wardrobe, is by rocking one smaller neon piece – like this skinny, brilliant yellow belt – and keeping the rest simple.
Even though I’ve chosen pretty bright bottoms here, as well, their soft sky-blue hue contrasts nicely with the yellow of the belt, and the bright-on-bright combo looks so fresh for the summer season. With a basic, soft gray tee to anchor the look on top and a minimal use of accessories elsewhere, this look becomes easy for anyone to pull off. With a neutral flat or leather sandal, this trendy ensemble is complete in no time at all.

I purchased a bunch of neon belts from the Farmer’s Market for $2.00 each – haven’t worn them yet but looking forward to it.
